This week: News about Gang of Four’s Andy Gill, The Psychedelic Furs, Throwing Muses and more.

Andy Gill, the guitarist who co-founded and remained the sole original member of Gang of Four, and whose sharp-edged playing help define the U.K. post-punk sound of the late 1970s and early ’80s, died Saturday at a London hospital following a short respiratory illness. He was 64.

This is a round-up of the week’s new albums, expanded reissues and/or box sets, appearing each Monday on Slicing Up Eyeballs. All releases due out this Friday unless noted. Since we missed last week’s round-up, this includes a few that just came out last Friday, too.

The Andy Gill-led Gang of Four will mount an 18-date U.S. tour in February ahead of the release of the post-punk legends’ first new album in four years, a 10-song collection called Happy Now that was previewed this year via the band’s Complicit EP. Full details and tour dates here.

The Andy Gill-led Gang of Four returns this month with its first new release in three years, an EP called Complicit that the legendary post-punk act is previewing with the buzzsaw track “Lucky,” which you can stream in full below right here via Soundcloud. The full EP will be released April 13.

This week’s new releases include the first new album in 17 years from reunited shoegaze legends Swervedriver (“I Wasn’t Born To Lose You”), an album of studio reworkings of live Chris & Cosey tracks by the duo under their current name Carter Tutti, and the UK release of the new Gang of Four album.

Post-punk legends Gang of Four today debuted the music video for “England’s In My Bones,” one of two songs featuring Alison Mosshart of The Kills and The Dead Weather appearing on the band’s forthcoming album. You can watch the clip right here.
