Erasure today announce the release of its 16th studio album this fall, a 10-track record titled The Violet Flame that will be followed by a massive 58-date world tour that will mostly see Andy Bell and Vince Clarke play venues in the U.S. and U.K. between mid-September and the end of 2014.

Erasure is back with a second music video for a track off the synthpop duo’s recently released Christmas-themed album Snow Globe — and this time it’s for one of the group’s original compositions, “Make it Wonderful.” Like the previous clip for “Gaudete,” this one’s animated, too.

This week’s new releases include the brand-new Christmas album from Erasure (‘Snow Globe’), plus reissues of The Lords of the New Church’s three albums from the ’80s, a Songs For Slim compilation 2CD set featuring The Replacements, and a set of ’80s covers from Matthew Sweet and Susannah Hoffs.

Erasure this week released the first single off its upcoming Christmas album Snow Globe, a synthpop take on the medieval Latin carol “Gaudete,” which was a folk hit in 1973 for Steeleye Span. The duo also debuted a new stop-motion animation video created by Martin Meunier and Tonya Hurley.

Turns out the slimmed-down Regeneration Tour won’t be a West Coast-only trek after all: The organizers of the ’80s synthpop package tour have announced a pair of dates in New York this August, two concerts that will feature Erasure frontman Andy Bell and will feature Howard Jones.

Vince Clarke — he of Erasure, and former stints in Depeche Mode and Yazoo, of course — has been playing the occasional DJ set of late, and he’s got another one booked for June 22 at Velvet Underground in Toronto. Still struggling from the loss of planned headliner The Human League, the promoters of this summer’s Regeneration Tour today announced they’ve been forced to scale back to a West Coast-only trek, unveiling new shows and lineups in Portland, Ore., Sacramento and Mexico City while also canceling a date in Atlanta.

Despite fans’ concerns that the entire trek had been scrubbed, it appears the Regeneration Tour is still on this summer, with Talking Heads spinoff Tom Tom Club and New Wave stars A Flock of Seagulls filling in at certain dates for The Human League, which quit the tour late month.

Just days after The Human League pulled out of this summer’s planned Regeneration Tour saying the group had been “promised one thing and delivered something so completely different,” another act on the bill, Erasure frontman Andy Bell, is warning fans that he might not be joining the tour, either.
