Record Rack: A round-up of the week’s new albums, expanded reissues and/or box sets, appearing each Monday on Slicing Up Eyeballs. All releases due out this Friday unless noted. This week’s releases include titles from R.E.M.’s Peter Buck, The Fall, Alex Chilton, Devo, Sex Pistols and more.

The Futurismo label this summer will reissue the limited-edition Devo rarities set Recombo DNA! — described as a career-spanning “sonic fusion of demos, alternate versions and outtakes” — on 4LPs and a 3-inch mini CD in an expanded edition with seven previously tracks. Sad news today for fans of Bill Paxton, the actor known for iconic mid-’80s supporting roles in “Weird Science” and “Aliens” who went on to star in blockbusters like “Twister” and “Apollo 13.” The 61-year-old died Saturday due to complications from surgery, his family announced today.

This week’s new releases include a live set from Devo called ‘Hardcore Live!’ that will be available on CD, DVD and Blu-ray, and digitally as well. Also out this week: a limited-edition vinyl repress of Dinosaur Jr’s ‘Bug: Live at the 9:30 Club’ on red vinyl. An even more limited splatter-colored LP already has sold out.

This week’s releases include a pair of titles from R.E.M. (the band’s 1991 and 2001 “Unplugged” sessions, plus a digital rarities set), a collection of Devo demos, a new best-of from The MIssion, a new album from Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbot of The Beautiful South, a Cramps vinyl reissue and more.

Devo will offer fans what it’s calling “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” this summer when the band performs the early experimental music it created between 1974 and 1977 during a 10-date North American tour that’s dedicated to the memory or the late Robert “Bob 2” Casale.
