Promise Ring offshoot Maritime covers the Depeche Mode classic ‘Enjoy the Silence,’ with a keytar no less, for the A.V. Club’s ‘Undercover’ series.

The ABC News web music series Amplified today posted a nearly eight-minute segment on The Specials, presumably filmed last week while the reunited ska legends were in New York City for a pair of shows to cap off their very brief U.S. tour.

The seminal debut from Mick Jones’ post-Clash outfit Big Audio Dynamite is set to be reissued tomorrow in an expanded 2CD package — and to mark the occasion, Slicing Up Eyeballs spoke to drummer Greg Roberts about B.A.D.’s origins, the recording of ‘This Is Big Audio Dynamite’ and his current group, Dreadzone.

This week’s new releases include ‘Your Future Our Clutter,’ the 28th album from The Fall, plus the 2CD ‘This is Big Audio Dynamite: Legacy Edition,’ a new EP from James, a KMFDM remix disc, a best-of from The Triffids and a Robs Records compilation.

Tonight’s episode of ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave featured rare airings from Concrete Blonde (‘Darkening of the Light’), The Smiths (‘Unloveable’) and David J (‘Girl On Fire’), not to mention true shockers from Theatre of Hate (‘Original Sin’) and Stewart Copeland and Stan Ridgeway (‘Don’t Box Me In’).

Less than a month after dropping its debut EP, Peter Hook’s triple-bass supergroup Freebass — which also features The Smiths’ Andy Rourke and Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield of The Stone Roses and Primal Scream — today released its five-years-in-the-making album, ‘It’s a Beautiful Life.’

Karl Wallinger’s second album under the World Party banner — ‘Goodbye Jumbo,’ a ’60s-soaked pop-rock gem featuring hit singles ‘Put the Message in the Box’ and ‘Way Down Now’ — was released 20 years ago today.
