Sonic Youth wrapped up a short South American tour last night with a 70-minute set at the SWU Music & Arts Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil — something that normally wouldn’t be particularly newsworthy, except that it might have been the legendary noise-rockers’ final performance after 30 years together.

Here’s a nice bit of not-so-vintage video: A full 80-minute, 26-song Pixies concert filmed in Boston in 2004 for broadcast on HDTV as the special “Pixies Come Home: Live From their 2004 World Tour.” Thanks to the Pixies themselves for sharing the video on the band’s official Facebook page yesterday.

Now that Morrissey has shifted what was to have been the opening night of his U.S. and Mexican tour to the end of the trek, it appears he may be expanding the run — fans in the Detroit area can catch Moz on Dec. 18, the day after the now-rescheduled Chicago date.
