This week not only brings news of a 3CD reissue from The House of Love, but new music, too, from the band’s guitarist, Terry Bickers, in the form of “I Don’t Give a Shit About You,” the very radio-unfriendly debut track from Pete Fij and Terry Bickers, his collaboration with Pete Fijalkowski of early ’90s shoegazers Adorable.

Kitchens of Distinction co-founders Patrick Fitzgerald and Julian Swales have reunited for the first time since the British dream-pop act folded in 1996, writing 10 new songs together — ‘whittled down from a lot more ideas that never fully flowered’ — that Fitzgerald says are ‘reminiscent of Kitchens but also something new.’

Echo & The Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant this summer announced he’d enlisted former bandmate and current Wild Swans bassist Les Pattinson to take part in a new instrumental band called Poltergeist — and today they’ve debuted the first fruits of their labor, about two minutes’ worth of an untitled track.

For months, former R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck has been silent about his upcoming solo debut, but he’s finally opening up about the project, confirming it’s planned as a vinyl-only release and that he’ll sing eight of the album’s 12 tracks, with longtime sideman Scott McCaughey and Corin Tucker picking up the rest.

Last Friday night, Peter Murphy played a one-off concert in Los Angeles — an event dubbed “Stan Lee’s In Parties” — to help kick off the weekened-long Comikaze comic-book, sci-fi and fantasy fest. It was a fairly standard set from Murphy… except for the opening number, which found Murphy dueting with Lee on “That Old Black Magic.”

The House of Love’s self-titled debut album on Creation Records — the second of three eponymous releases from the U.K. indie band — is set to be reissued this fall in an expanded 3CD set, with the original 10-track album supplemented by 40 bonus tracks, including non-album singles, B-sides and 19 previously unreleased demos.
