Simple Minds are putting the finishing touches on a live album culled from this year’s “5×5 Live” tour of Europe, which found the band each night performing five songs off of each of its first five albums — ‘Life In A Day,’ ‘Real To Real Cacophony,’ ‘Empires and Dance,’ ‘Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Calling’ and ‘New Gold Dream.’

In honor of this week’s release of the expanded 25th anniversary reissue of ‘Document,’ R.E.M. has posted the album’s original electronic press kit, a 6-minute, black-and-white video dubbed “A Conversation with Michael Stipe” that would have been sent to music journalists in 1987 to promote the then-forthcoming record.

Celebrated Paisley Underground act Rain Parade will reunite onstage in Atlanta early next year for the first time in more than two decades to play a benefit concert for Bobby Sutliff, singer/guitarist/songwriter for ’80s contemporaries The Windbreakers, who was seriously injured in a car accident over the summer.

Peter Murphy will revive the “Miracula” concept he first employed for an all-inclusive Las Vegas weekend this past March for a trimmed-down Halloween event at a “secret location” in the Los Angeles area that will include a 2-act concert, a cocktail party, a “moveable feast” and “intimate conversation” with Murphy.

Brian Eno will release his first solo album in seven years this fall, a 75-minute ambient composition titled Lux that Warp Records says “finds him expanding upon the types of themes and sonic textures that were present on such classic albums as Music For Films, Music For Airports and Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks.”

John Lydon’s reunited Public Image Ltd. took to the airwaves last night for the band’s first U.K. television performance in 20 years, appearing on BBC Two’s “Later… with Jools Holland” to play “Reggie Song,” the next single off the band’s comeback LP, This Is PiL — which you can watch right here.
