With Bob Mould out on tour this fall supporting both his excellent new studio album and celebrating the 20th anniversary of Sugar’s beloved Copper Blue, the fine folks at Merge Records have hooked us up with a full set of the recently released Sugar reissues to award one lucky Slicing Up Eyeballs reader.

Vince Clarke and Martyn Ware teamed up in the late ’90s to record a pair of atmospheric albums under the moniker The Clarke & Ware Experiment. Now, a dozen years later, they’ve paired those two albums with eight CDs of unreleased material to create a limited-edition box set called The House of Illustrious.

With their reunion tour set to open tonight in Denver, Australian Simon Bonney’s resurrected art-rock group Crime and the City Solution — which, during the ’80s, included members of The Birthday Party, Swell Maps and Einstürzende Neubauten — today debuted its first new music in 22 years.

This week’s edition of the Slicing Up Eyeballs Music Hour on Strangeways Radio featured a special 1987 25th anniversary megamix, featuring extended versions and 12-inch mixes of singles off albums that were released in that year. The show will be replayed at 2 p.m. EDT Friday.

Fans of The Lemonheads hoping to see a reunion of Evan Dando and the band’s former bassist Juliana Hatfield during the group’s current tour opening for The Psychedelic Furs are in for disappointment: Hatfield is not on the tour after all. When asked at a recent show, Dando simply said, “She’s in Boston.”

Sonic Youth today offered up the first taste of its forthcoming archival live album, ‘Smart Bar – Chicago 1985,’ in the form of ‘Bad Moon Rising’ opening combo “Intro/Brave Men Run (In My Family),” which you can check right here. The full album is due out Nov. 14.
