Echo & The Bunnymen return later this spring with their first album and five years, and this week they give fans the first inkling of what to expect from Meteorites with “Market Town,” an anthemic, 7-minute rocker. The album is out April 28 in the U.K. and June 3 in the U.S.

Cocteau Twins guitarist Robin Guthrie and Ride frontman Mark Gardener have completed their long-in-the-works album together — a collaboration they debuted with their 2012 single “The Places We Go” — and will release the record worldwide this September, Gardener announced this week.

Peter Murphy will return to the road for a late spring/early summer U.S. tour in support of his forthcoming 10th album Lion, and, while he has yet to formally announce the itinerary, dates have begun popping up in New York, Atlanta, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, Texas, and even Omaha, Neb.

The new Pixies music keeps flowing, and, following the instant-release of a new EP and the announcement of a new album compiling the band’s recently released material, the Pixies also have a debuted a music video for the song “Snakes,” which appears both on EP3 and Indie Cindy.

With the release next week of The Mighty Lemon Drops’ new Uptight: The Early Recordings 1985/1986 compilation, Cherry Red Records today debuted one of the set’s previously unreleased tracks: a demo recording of Happy Head single “My Biggest Thrill” made during a July 1986 session.

After 37 years at the helm of The Pretenders, iconic frontwoman Chrissie Hynde is going solo, announcing plans to release her first-ever album under her own name, an 11-song collection called Stockholm that’s due out on June 9 and is preceded by the single “Dark Sunglasses.”
