We interrupt our regular programming for a special announcement: Tonight’s edition of “Dark Wave” — the Sunday night celebration of the “darker side of classic alternative” on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave — will be guest-hosted by none other than David J of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets.

The Pixies will mark the 25th anniversary of their classic sophomore album Doolittle with an expanded 3CD, 50-track reissue this December that will feature, as bonus material, the record’s B-sides, two of the band’s Peel sessions in their entireties, and a full disc’s worth of demos.

Tonight’s edition of “Dark Wave” on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave featured music from Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Fields of the Nephilim, Mussolini Headkick, Psychic TV, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Skinny Puppy, Ghost Dance, ClockDVA, Pailhead, Foetus, Joy Division and more.

After six years of eligibility, The Smiths were nominated today for induction as part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015, joining a list of nominees that includes Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, the late Lou Reed, Kraftwerk, Sting and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
