The Cure appears poised to celebrate this year’s edition of Record Store Day with vinyl picture-disc reissues of 2001’s Greatest Hits and a standalone release of the Acoustic Hits set that was included as a bonus disc in early pressings of the CD version of that best-of set. The two double-LP sets are expected to be released April 21.

Afropop star Angélique Kidjo will debut a “thrilling new version” of the Talking Heads’ landmark 1980 album Remain in Light at New York City’s Carnegie Hall in May, then will take the show on the road, performing the album at Bonnarroo and on a yet-to-be-announced world tour.

Former Hüsker Dü frontman Bob Mould has again expanded his planned spring solo-electric outing, adding new shows in Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Cambridge, Mass. — plus an appearance at Wire’s Drill: Los Angeles festival. Mould is touring in support of his 12th solo album, Patch the Sky.

A week after suggesting they’d move some sold-out North American shows to larger venues, Midnight Oil has done just that in Vancouver, British Columbia, shifting their gig there from the 900-capacity Commodore Ballroom to the 1,500-capacity Malkin Bowl outdoor amphitheater.

Prefab Sprout’s Paddy McAloon is back with a timely new song called “America” that implores the United States to “do what’s right” when it comes to immigrants: “Don’t reject that stranger knocking at your door,” McAloon sings, “The orphan child exiled by war. She may become a doctor and work among the poor.”

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds today announced a sprawling new best-of collection that’s “designed to be a way into three decades of music making” and which will be released in multiple formats: a standard 2CD set, a triple LP collection, a deluxe 3CD/1DVD version and a super-deluxe edition that adds a 256-page hardback book.

Post-punk legends act Wire have served up the second taste of their upcoming 15th studio album, Silver/Lead, in the form of mid-tempo rocker “Diamonds and Cups” — which premiered last week at Stereogum, and can be heard here. The band’s new album arrives March 31.
