The The today released a music video for the band’s comeback single “We Can’t Stop What’s Coming,” an emotional clip that, like the song, pays tribute to bandleader Matt Johnson’s late brother Andrew Johnson, aka Andy Dog, who designed much of The The’s artwork.

Chris Cornell, whose unmistakable multi-octave singing voice branded Seattle’s Soundgarden as one of the true grunge-era standouts, died last night in Detroit following a concert there by the reunited band, the Associated Press reported. Police are investigating Cornell’s death as a possible suicide. He was 52.

Post-punk legends act Wire today announced a 13-date north American tour this September in support of its recently released 15th studio album, Silver/Lead. The trek opens Sept. 16 in Chicago, and includes dates in the midwest and on the East Coast, wrapping up with three nights in Brooklyn. See full dates here.

The Jesus and Mary Chain are about halfway through their North American tour, and took the opportunity, while in New York, to appear on last night’s episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to perform “The Two of Us,” a fuzzed-out duet between Jim Reid and Sky Ferreira.
