We’re thrilled today to debut a new partnership with the “Rockin’ the Suburbs” podcast that will bring exclusive, uncut versions of their interviews with musicians of the ’80s college rock era to Slicing Up Eyeballs. And who better to inaugurate the whole thing than Tommy Stinson of The Replacements.

Nevertheless, we’re back with the May installment of the ever-popular Auto Reverse mixtape series — and it’s one of our occasional themed installments, no less. This month’s tape is all Manchester acts.

The unstoppable Mark E. Smith returns this summer with his 32nd studio album under The Fall moniker, an 11-track collection called New Facts Emerge that features a slightly stripped-down lineup of the legendary and oft-changing Manchester band.

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark today premiered the first official single off their upcoming album The Punishment of Luxury, a soaring, classic-sounding single called “Isotype” that will be released digitally tomorrow and will be released on 12-inch vinyl as well.

Record Rack: A round-up of the week’s new albums, expanded reissues and/or box sets, appearing each Monday on Slicing Up Eyeballs. All releases due out this Friday unless noted. This week’s releases include deluxe expanded reissues from U2 and Bob Marley, plus an Erasure remix EP.
