Experimental psych-rock legends Butthole Surfers will return to the studio to record their ninth album and first in 16 years — news that broke last week at, of all places, a meeting of the Austin, Texas, City Council’s music advisory commission, according to the Austin Chronicle.

For the last few years, Andy Partridge has been overseeing audiophile reissues of XTC titles, releasing a series of albums — Nonsuch, Drums and Wires, Oranges and Lemons and Skylarking — with new stereo and 5.1 Surround mixes by Porcupine Tree frontman Steven Wilson. It appears Black Sea is next.

Cindy Wilson, one of the founding vocalists of Athens, Ga., favorites The B-52s, will release her debut solo album — the electro-flavored Change — on Kill Rock Stars this fall and head out on what she’s calling an “unprecedented multimedia concert tour” of North America. Squeeze this week announced that bandleaders Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford are busy finishing up work on a new studio album with a new lineup of the long-running group, which will head out on a just-revealed 13-date tour of the Eastern U.S. later this fall. See full dates right here.

Alison Moyet has released a new Steve Gullick-directed music video for “The Rarest Birds,” the second single off her new album Other, a song that she calls “a paean to LGBTQ” that celebrates the “freedom to identify where we best see fit.” Watch the full video right here.
