With their former bandmates off performing together as Poptone, the other half of Bauhaus — Peter Murphy and David J — reunited on stage today at a festival in Mexico to perform a set of Bauhaus classics ahead of their rescheduled run of shows in San Francisco this summer. See video footage here.
The enigmatic Dead Can Dance — led by co-founders and mainstays Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard — have recorded a new studio album, the group’s second since reuniting in 2011 and the first to be released in six years, Perry revealed in a tweet on Saturday. It’s not yet known when the album will be released.
New Order will join The Avett Brothers, SZA and Awolnation as headliners of the inaugural InCuya Music Festival in downtown Cleveland this August, a brand-new, two-day event that’s being put on by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and promoter AEG Presents. Full details right here.
After last year’s tour of the U.S., Poptone — featuring longtime bandmates Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins, plus Haskins’ daughter Diva Dompe on bass — are preparing their debut EP, a 13-song live radio session featuring performances of originally recorded by Tones on Tail, Love and Rockets and Bauhaus.
The Fixx will mark the 35th anniversary of the band’s multi-platinum 1983 album Reach the Beach — home to the singles “One Thing Leads To Another”, “Saved By Zero” and “The Sign Of Fire” — by performing the record in full each night on its U.S. tour this summer. See full tour dates here.
Fans who attended Arcade Fire’s arena show in Glasgow, Scotland, on Monday were treated to a cameo from a hometown hero, as the band brought Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr on-stage early in the set to perform his band’s monster hit “Don’t You (Forget About Me).” Check out video footage of the performance.
Echo & The Bunnymen today announced that the release of the band’s new album — a collection of “some of their greatest songs” re-recorded “with strings and things attached” — will be pushed back from May to October as the group puts the final touches on the record. See full tracklist here.
