The Cure’s two much-coveted Record Store Day releases — 2001’s Greatest Hits and a standalone release of its limited-edition companion Acoustic Hits, both as 2LP picture discs — will receive a general release later this month on standard vinyl. They’ll be released on June 30.

The The today apologized for a trouble-plagued attempt to sell extra copies of its Record Store Day 7-inch single online Saturday, and, acknowledging that “demand far exceeded everyone’s expectations,” announced that “We Can’t Stop What’s Coming” will be released digitally and on CD.

Fans of The The in the U.S. and other parts of the world that aren’t the U.K. will get their chance to buy Matt Johnson and Co.’s first new single in 10 years Saturday as extra copies of the band’s much-coveted, and very sold-out, Record Store Day 7-inch go on sale online.

Today was Record Store Day, and as one eagle-eyed Slicing Up Eyeballs reader alerted us, the Transportation Security Administration took to Instagram to relay an important message for traveling collectors: pack that fresh vinyl in your carry-on, not your checked baggage.

Record Store Day buyers who’ve already snatched up copies of the new 7-inch from The Smiths — featuring previously unreleased versions of “The Boy With the Thorn In His Side” and its original B-side “Rubber Ring” — have discovered a biting political message inscribed in the 45’s run-out groove: “Trump will kill America.”

J Spaceman and Sonic Boom are asking fans of Spacemen 3 not to buy any of that band’s Record Store Day releases in the U.K., saying they’re in a dispute with the owner of the record label putting out the three titles, and that “any monies from those sales will go directly to him and help fund his side of the dispute.”
