Having just wrapped up their North American tour, the Pixies this morning took the opportunity to debut yet another new music video — this time for the song “Greens and Blues” off the band’s EP2 — and fleshed out its world tour with dates in South America, Europe and Japan — plus a lone U.S. appearance.

Been a while since we’ve done a “120 Minutes” Rewind — the pickings were getting awfully slim on YouTube — but it’s time to revive the feature, and there’s no better way to do it than with this “120 X-Ray” spotlight on the mighty Joe Strummer.

For this week’s installment of Vintage Video we return to that treasure trove of quality early ’80s concert footage, the West German TV show “Rockpalast,” for this New Gold Dream-era performance by Simple Minds. Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band performed Wednesday night in Sydney, Australia, and, as the band has been known to do, added a bit of local flavor to its set, performing, for the first time ever, a cover of INXS’ classic 1982 single “Don’t Change” to a very appreciative crowd of Aussies.

The Pixies’ current U.S. tour took the band through Washington, D.C., recently, which afforded the group a chance to stop by NPR’s offices to perform a stripped-down “Tiny Desk Concert” — footage of which has just been posted by the public-radio giant.

Peter Buck this month hosted his third-annual Todos Santos Music Festival in the southern Baja region of Mexico, a week-long event that featured performances by The Minus 5, Live’s Ed Kowalczyk, Drivin’ N Cryin’, The Dream Syndicate and, of course, Buck himself.
