Ex-Jam frontman Paul Weller today releases ‘That Dangerous Age’ — the first single off his upcoming album ‘Sonik Kicks’ — in the U.K., and he stopped by ‘The Jonathan Ross Show”‘on Saturday to play the track for the show’s TV broadcast, plus a web-only performance of album track ‘The Attic.’

Twenty-five years ago today, U2 cemented itself as one of rock ‘n’ roll’s giants, releasing its epochal album ‘The Joshua Tree.’ To celebrate this milestone, we present the band’s infamous “Save the Yuppies” concert from Nov. 11, 1987, when U2 set up in Justin Herman Plaza at San Francisco’s Embarcadero Center for a free concert.

Credit for this week’s installment of Vintage Video goes to Cocteau Twins bassist Simon Raymonde, who came across this rare footage of his band on YouTube — a seemingly complete concert filmed Nov. 1, 1990, at London’s Town & Country Club during the ‘Heaven or Las Vegas’ tour — and posted it on Facebook.

Fields of the Nephilim this month will release Ceromonies, a document of a pair of concerts at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire in 2008 that will be available as a 2CD/DVD set, a double LP, a digital download and a ‘collector’s box’ that features all of that, plus ‘a wealth of extra artifacts.’

Twenty years ago tonight, U2 opened its ZOO TV Tour in Lakeland, Fla. — debuting a high-tech stage show that not only redefined the Irish rockers, but changed the way arena and stadium tours have been staged ever since, incorporating dazzling visual imagery and extending the performance space out into the audience.

Not sure how this one escaped our notice, but it’s better late than never: On Sept. 21, 2010, ChameleonsVox — the band featuring frontman Mark Burgess and drummer John Lever of post-punk favorites The Chameleons — stopped by the studios of Seattle’s KEXP radio to perform a four-song, on-air set.
