With their new album set to arrive Friday, New Zealand indie-pop legends The Chills today premiere the video for super-catchy lead-off single “Complex” — which you can view below. The album, the band’s first in three years and sixth overall, is due out Sept. 14 via Fire Records, and can be pre-ordered now.

In late June, Mike Peters released the first album by The Alarm in eight years, an 11-song effort called Equals that features Billy Duffy of The Cult on one song. Now comes the music video for one of the album’s standouts: “Thirteen Dead Reindeer,” a driving rockers with some electronic flourishes.

The new documentary chronicling Midnight Oil’s pivotal year of 1984 — which saw the release of Red Sails in the Sunset and Peter Garrett’s failed run for the Australian Senate as a Nuclear Disarmament Party candidate — will screen later next month in select U.S. theaters. Power-pop favorites The Posies currently are out on a 30th anniversary tour, and the band’s stop in St. Paul, Minn., on Tuesday night featured an extra treat: The group brought Hüsker Dü bassist Greg Norton onstage during the encore to rip through four of that band’s classics. The Robert Smith-curated Meltdown festival in London wrapped up Sunday night with a headlining performance by The Cure — or, rather, CURÆTION-25, as the band was billed — that featured a there-and-back-again, two-set retrospective of the band’s 40-year career.
