Thirty-three years ago tonight, Elvis Costello & The Attractions staged one of the more infamous stunts in ‘Saturday Night Live’ history, pulling the plug on their label-approved song ‘Less Than Zero’ less than 10 seconds in and instead ripping through ‘Radio Radio.’

Following appearances by Peter Gabriel and Jane’s Addiction earlier this fall, satellite provider DirecTV’s new performance and Q&A show ‘Guitar Center Sessions’ this month spotlights The Cult.

Just last week we marked the 48th birthday of Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield — and today we celebrate a Stone Roses birthday again, as guitarist John Squire also turns 48. Monday night, Nick Cave’s sludgy blues-rock outfit Grinderman took a break from its ongoing U.S. tour to stop by ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,’ where the band of occasional Bad Seeds ripped through ‘Mickey Mouse and the Goodbye Man,’ the lead-off track on this year’s ‘Grinderman 2’ album.

Earlier this month, the Pet Shop Boys stopped by ‘The Graham Norton Show’ to support of their just-released new best-of set ‘Ultimate’ by performing their 1987 No. 1 single ‘It’s a Sin.’
