A couple days before making headlines at South By Southwest by declaring America and its music “exhausted,” former Boomtown Rats leader Bob Geldof dropped by ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ to promote his new album ‘How to Compose Popular Songs That Will Sell.’

MTV announced today that it will revive its hugely influential Sunday night alternative-music video outlet ‘120 Minutes’ as a weekly online series called ‘120 Seconds’ hosted by Matt Pinfield on web portal MTV Hive and a monthly show that will be televised on sister network MTV2.

Armed with somewhat spastic back-up dancers, the ever-suave Bryan Ferry dropped by the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ last night to belt out ‘You Can Dance’ off last year’s ‘Olympia.’

With their U.S. tour now underway, U.K. postpunk legends Gang of Four stopped by ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ last night to crank out their current single ‘Never Pay for the Farm,’ off the band’s just-released album ‘Content.’

Celebrity gossip TV show ‘Extra’ this week posted a performance/interview segment with synthpop innovator Gary Numan, in which he plays ‘Cars’ and discusses last year’s tour in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of his debut album, ‘The Pleasure Principle.’

The episode of ‘Austin City Limits’ featuring noise-rock mainstays Sonic Youth premiered this weekend, and now you can watch the whole thing online. The episode also features The Black Keys.
