Richard Hell and the Voidoids’ 1977 debut Blank Generation — a landmark chapter in the history of New York City punk — will receive an expanded 40th anniversary reissue next month, with the original record paired with a disc of previously unreleased studio takes and live tracks. The Ramones’ deluxe reissue campaign continues this fall with the 3CD/1LP expansion of the punk icons’ third album, Rocket to Russia, that will include two different mixes of the album, a host of unreleased studio recordings and a previously unissued live album recorded in 1977. It’s not the new album Tears For Fears long have been working on, but the duo of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith today debuted their first original song in 13 years, a track called “I Love You But I’m Lost” that will be one of two new songs on the group’s upcoming greatest-hits disc.

Nearly four decades’ worth of singles — both A-sides and their accompanying B-sides — by the assorted lineups of Mark E. Smith’s pioneering post-punk outfit The Fall will be collected on a new 7-disc, 117-track box set from Cherry Red Records this November. See the full tracklist right here.

After dropping hints for months, Numero Group today finally revealed full details of their multi-disc Hüsker Dü box set Savage Young Dü, which collects new remasters of the punk/hardcore trio’s entire studio output from 1979 to 1982 — including 47 unreleased tracks. See the full tracklist here.

Squeeze this week announced the release of the group’s first new studio album in two years, a 12-song collection called The Knowledge that is due out Oct. 13 and is preceded by the record’s moody opener, “Innocence in Paradise,” which you can stream in full below. Check out the first track here.

Demon Music Group next month will release a Nuggets-inspired 3CD box set compiled by longtime British radio host Gary Crowley that collects 77 tracks from 1977 to 1982, including “many rare, one-off singles which were very much in keeping with the DIY spirit of the times.”

The upcoming expanded reissue of The Smiths’ classic 1986 album The Queen is Dead, it turns out, will be bigger than originally thought. Rhino Records this morning formally announced the first-ever expanded reissue from the legendary band, revealing that it will be be released as a 3CD/1DVD boxed set.

The third in Parlophone’s series of career-spanning David Bowie box sets will be released in September as a 11 CD, 13 LP or digital download edition that features everything Bowie released between 1977 and 1982, including rarities and a new mix of Lodger by producer Tony Visconti.
