Elvis Costello today revealed he underwent surgery six weeks ago for a “very aggressive cancerous malignancy,” and while the procedure went well, he’s canceling the remainder of his European tour — beginning with tonight’s show in Manchester — as he continues to recover. New Order this morning revealed plans for a short North American tour around two previously announced headlining slots at U.S. festivals, saying the band will be “visiting cities they haven’t played in quite some time,” including a pair of shows on the Hawaiian islands of Oahu and Maui. Vanessa Briscoe Hay’s Pylon Reenactment Society — the band she put together following the death of Pylon guitarist Randy Bewley — will set out on a short mini-tour later this month, performing a couple new songs, she says, along with favorites from the Pylon catalog. Johnny Marr today announced plans to tour North America and the U.K. and Ireland this fall in support of his soon-to-be-released third solo album Call the Comet, a trek that will take him across the U.S. and dip into both Canada and Mexico before heading back overseas for a leg that ends in Manchester.

Having just completed a run of West Coast dates, and with their debut album due out next month, Poptone — Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins, plus Haskins’ daughter Diva Dompe — have just rolled out more North American tour dates, a nine-concert run this summer that’ll see the band hitting the Midwest and East Coast.

The Retro Futura package tour — which announced its anticipated lineup back in January — has now rolled out initial dates for the summer trek that features Belinda Carlisle, ABC, Modern English, Tony Lewis of The Outfield, Kajagoogoo’s Limahl and Bow Wow Wow’s Annabella. Full dates here.
