Vanessa Briscoe Hay’s Pylon Reenactment Society — the band the Pylon frontwoman put together following the death in 2009 of guitarist Randy Bewley — next week will release its first original music in the form of a two-song single to be issued digitally and on 7-inch vinyl. XTC’s Andy Partridge will release new music next month, having christened his newly upgraded studio by recording a pair of his favorite songs: the Syd Barrett-penned early Pink Floyd single “Apples and Oranges” and the Bonzo Dog Band’s Humanoid Boogie, written by Neil Innes. Morrissey has recorded a cover of The Pretenders’ 1982 single “Back on the Chain Gang” — which the former Smiths frontman has taken to playing live of late — in a Los Angeles studio and intends to release it this summer as a single, according to a post on his new Morrissey Central website.

Former Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore today debuted a political broadside called “Mx Liberty,” a new single co-written with poet Radieux Radio that will be released on 7-inch vinyl on Feb. 19 in conjunction with what he’s calling “Not My President’s Day.” Listen to the new single right here.

Morrissey today released the third song off his upcoming 10th solo album Low in High School, the apparently Brexit-themed single “Jack’s Only Happy When She’s Up On Stage,” which you hear in full via the official lyric video below. The 7-inch release will include a cover of the Elvis Presley classic “You’ll Be Gone.”
