XTC’s Andy Partridge will release new music next month, having christened his newly upgraded studio by recording a pair of his favorite songs: the Syd Barrett-penned early Pink Floyd single “Apples and Oranges” and the Bonzo Dog Band’s Humanoid Boogie, written by Neil Innes. Morrissey has recorded a cover of The Pretenders’ 1982 single “Back on the Chain Gang” — which the former Smiths frontman has taken to playing live of late — in a Los Angeles studio and intends to release it this summer as a single, according to a post on his new Morrissey Central website.

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark today released the second official single off the group’s upcoming album The Punishment of Luxury — the title track, which is accompanied by a brand-new animated video that you can watch below. The track follows the release of first single “Isotype” in late May.

Rhino/Warner Bros. will release a limited-edition 7-inch single by The Smiths on Record Store Day next month that features previously unreleased versions of the band’s 1985 single “The Boy with the Thorn in His Side” and its original B-side, “Rubber Ring.” Record Store Day is April 22.

Two years after announcing work on a new The The album, Matt Johnson is releasing his first full-band music under that moniker in the form of “We Can’t Stop What’s Coming,” an etched one-sided 7-inch single to be issued next month as part of Record Store Day in the U.K.
