Former Mighty Lemon Drops guitarist David Newton debuted his new band David Newton & Thee Mighty Angels last fall with the five-track Paint the Town EP, and now the group is at work on a full-length album — which we can preview here via the brand-new track “In Love and War,” available as a free download for the next two weeks.
Wednesday was Thurston Moore’s birthday, and the Sonic Youth frontman saw fit to give fans another gift: ‘Frank O’Hara Hit,’ the third free track from his new band Chelsea Light Moving — which you can stream and/or download below, via Matador Records, which will put out the group’s debut album at some point in the future.
After several years of touring in support of various classic albums, the reunited Sebadoh this week dropped a surprise on fans: a new five-song EP called Secret, which is both Lou Barlow & Co.’s first new music in 13 years and a teaser to a full-length album that should arrive sometime in 2013.
As promised, Matador Records this week delivered a second track from Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore’s new band Chelsea Light Moving in the form of mid-tempo rocker ‘Groovy & Linda,’ which you can stream and/or download here. The band is expected to release an album on Matador in the future.
Check out the opening track from the forthcoming ‘Just Tell Me That You Want Me: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac,’ a new take — by Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo with an assist from Dinosaur Jr shredder J Mascis — on the Peter Green-era instrumental hit ‘Albatross.’ The album arrives Aug. 14.
Boston post-punk legends Mission of Burma will release Unsound — their fifth studio album and fourth post-reunion effort — next Tuesday, but the folks at Fire Records are launching the record early on Spotify. If you’re registered with the streaming service, you should be able to listen to the full 11-track album via the player here.
As promised last week, the Pet Shop Boys premiered “Winner” — the first official single from their forthcoming 11th studio album Elysium — this morning on British radio, and now the duo has made the track available for streaming via the lyric video posted here.
