Echo & The Bunnymen spinoff Poltergeist — an instrumental trio that reunites guitarist Will Sergeant with former bassist and founding member Les Pattinson — today announced it will release a debut album titled ‘Your Mind Is A Box (Let Us Fill It With Wonder)’ in March then perform a series of U.K. dates later that month.

Thought to be retired from music and the public eye, David Bowie tonight announced he will release The Next Day — his first new album in a decade —next March, a collection preceded by the single “Where Are We Now?” that’s available immediately via iTunes and can be heard via its accompanying video.

When the world didn’t end in some kind of Mayan apocalypse last Friday, Adam Ant took the occasion to debut the music video for “Cool Zombie,” the lead single and opening track to his first new album in 18 years: ‘Adam Ant Is the Blueblack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner’s Daughter,’ which arrives Jan. 22 on Ant’s own record label.

My Bloody Valentine delivered a Christmas surprise to fans, announcing on Facebook this evening that the band finished mastering its 21-years-in-the-making follow-up to the 1991 classic ‘Loveless’ three days ago. Robyn Hitchcock will release a brand-new studio album titled ‘Love From London’ on Yep Roc Records on March 5, a 10-song collection that the singer-songwriter says “celebrates life in a culture imperiled by economic and environmental collapse,” according to the label’s announcement of the new record.

The Godfathers announced this weekend that they will release the long-in-the-works ‘Jukebox Fury’ — the reunited rockers’ first new album in 18 years — in late February or early March to coincide with the band’s upcoming support slot on a month-long, 22-date U.K. tour with The Stranglers.

Since we last checked in with former Orange Juice frontman Edwyn Collins, his follow-up to 2010′s acclaimed Losing Sleep has been bumped from January to late March, but that’s OK, since we can at least get a taste of the upcoming ‘Understated’ LP via the track “Too Bad (That’s Sad),” which debuted at The Quietus.
