Punk icons X celebrated today’s 40th anniversary of their landmark debut Los Angeles by surprise-releasing Alphabetland, the band’s first album in 27 years and the first recorded by its original lineup — Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom and D.J. The Psychedelic Furs today announced they’re delaying the release of Made of Rain — the band’s first new album in 29 years — until late July due to “logistical issues” presented by the coronavirus pandemic, saying, “It’s been a long time since we’ve put out an album, and we want to make sure that we can make it available to everyone.”
Fire Records is delaying the release of the first new Throwing Muses album in seven years “given the situation in our industry” brought on by the coronavirus. The 10-song Sun Racket, the band’s 10th record overall, had been due out May 22 but now is scheduled to be released Sept. 4.
The Pretenders recently debuted the second track of the band’s first new album in four years, the raucous title track to Hate For Sale, while also announcing a delay in the release of the record, presumably — like so much else right now — because of the coronavirus.
