Less than a month before Tears For Fears is scheduled to embark on an arena tour of the U.K. and Europe, co-founder Curt Smith — who split with musical partner Roland Orzabal once before — is hinting that his future with the group may be uncertain. Here’s what we know so far.
Cherry Red Records will follow up its recent geographically flavored box sets that focused on Manchester and Liverpool next month with a new five-disc, 115-song collection spotlighting the Scottish independent-music scene between 1977 and 1989. Check out the full tracklist right here.
In August 1982, Johnny Marr and Steven Patrick Morrissey went into Manchester’s Decibelle Studios to record the first two songs they’d written together, “The Hand that Rocks the Cradle” and “Suffer Little Children,” both of which would appear on The Smiths’ debut two years later. Following their on-stage reunion in August 2017, The Meat Puppets’ Curt and Cris Kirkwood re-teamed with original drummer Derrick Bostrom in the studio for the original trio’s first new album in 24 years, a 10-song collection called Dusty Notes that’s preceded by first single “Warranty.” Check out the new song here.
