It took The Cravats — skronky veterans of U.K. punk’s fabled Class of 1977 — some 37 years to follow up their debut album The Cravats in Toytown with sophomore LP Dustbin of Sound. But fans need not wait anywhere near that long for album No. 3, which we here at Slicing Up Eyeballs are thrilled to premiere in full today exactly one week ahead of its official release.

Dormant since a late-’70s/early-’80s run marked by a string of single and EP releases — not to mention a number of John Peel studio sessions — The Cravats were reborn circa 2007 at the hands of original members The Shend (vocals) and Svor Naan (saxophone and clarinet). They’re now joined by bassist Joe 91, guitarist Viscount Biscuits and drummer Rampton Garstang.
The new album Hoorahland comes three years after Dustbin of Sound and finds the band perfecting its marriage of ragged riff rock and bleating horns. The record features a notable guest, too, in the form of Dead Kennedys legend Jello Biafra, who trades vocals with The Shend on “Now the Magic Has Gone.”
