Irish megaband U2 today revealed plans to release its recent fanclub-only remix album Artificial Horizon — CDs of which were mailed free this month to paying members of U2.com — as a limited-edition triple vinyl collectors’ set that will be sold to the general public only through May 14.
Like the CD, the vinyl edition of Artificial Horizon — a sequel of sorts to 1995’s fan-club Melon remix CD — features 13 mixes of the band’s latter-period work (“Vertigo,” “Get On Your Boots,” “If God Will Send His Angels,” “Beautiful Day”) by the likes of Trent Rreznor and David Holmes. According to the band’s website, pre-orders will be taken through May 14, and the vinyl allegedly will be pressed that very same day. Plus, fans who pre-order the deluxe set — $35, or $30 for U2.com members — will receive a free download of “Unknown Caller” (Snow Patrol Mix), which isn’t included on the album.
