BACKSTORY: The Thin White Duke this week reissues his 1967 self-titled debut in a two-disc special edition (with the album’s original mono mix available on CD for the first time) in the UK, and, stateside, releases a two-CD soundtrack to his 2004 concert DVD “A Reality Tour.”

ARTIST: The Other Two
RELEASES: The Other Two and You, Super Highways
BACKSTORY: The two lone studio albums from the ’90s-era New Order spinoff act — featuring husband-and-wife team Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert — are reissued this week in digitally remastered, expanded editions featuring nine bonus remixes.

RELEASE: Tales of the New West
BACKSTORY: This week sees the release of a new reissue of the San Diego cowpunk band’s classic 12-track 1985 debut, appended by the six-track Glad ‘N’ Greasy EP that came out the following year. This single-disc edition is not, however, to be confused with the expanded set released by Rhino Records in 2004.

RELEASE: Peace in Our Time: Live in Moscow 1988
BACKSTORY: Out this week in the UK, this archival concert — which was released on VHS in 1989, but has never been issued on CD — was recorded in September 1988 at Moscow’s Palace of Sports, around the time the band issued its fourth studio album, Peace In Our Time.

BACKSTORY: Following last year’s expanded reissues of the British indie-pop outfit’s two lone studio albums (1987’s Tell God I’m Here and 1989’s The Beautiful) comes this 11-track live disc, originally only available directly from the band — and now available for the first time on CD, with new expanded sleevenotes.

ARTIST: Rain Parade
RELEASE: Beyond the Sunset
BACKSTORY: Recorded in Toyko on Dec. 16,1984, and released the following year, this live album from one of the leading lights of Los Angeles’ mid-’80s Paisley Underground scene makes its CD debut this week. The 10-track disc features a guest turn by Dream Syndicate’s Steve Wynn on a cover of Green on Red’s “Cheap Wine.”

Finally I can dump my Rain Parade vinyl (which I never play since my turntable lid is always covered in cd’s ha ha) on ebay. I’ve been waiting for those for over 20 years & was surprised the Japanese never even put out cd’s of those two titles in the late 80’s.
