The surviving members of Throbbing Gristle have relaunched their Industrial Records imprint in order to reissue the bulk of their late-’70s/early-’80s catalog on vinyl and expanded CD, and release the band’s final studio album: a long-in-the-works re-interpretation of Nico’s 1970 record Desertshore.
According to the band’s website (via King Blind), Throbbing Gristle will release remastered editions of The Second Annual Report (1977), D.O.A. The Third & Final Report (1978), 20 Jazz Funk Greats (1979), Heathen Earth (1980) and Throbbing Gristle’s Greatest Hits (1981) on vinyl, CD and digital download on Sept. 26.
The vinyl editions will features a new eight-page (reproduced as .pdf files for the downloads), full-color booklet, while each of the CDs will include a second disc of “selected TG live performances… specific to the original release year of each album.”
The group has opted not to continue performing as Throbbing Gristle since the death last fall of Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson and the apparent departure of Genesis P-Orridge just weeks before that. Nevertheless, the band says it will complete and release, likely next year, its final album Desertshore.
