While Mick Jones has yet to publicly debut the reunited Big Audio Dynamite, he took time last night to perform at the star-studded launch party for London’s new W Hotel — and enlisted The Who’s Roger Daltrey to help sing The Clash’s classic “London Calling.” That’s captured in this fan-shot and rather vertical video that’s posted above, and there’s another clip below of Jones and Co. — he was reportedly joined on stage by members of Kasabian and ex-Oasis and Who touring drummer Zac Starkey — playing “Should I Stay or Should I Go.”

First off, I love and respect Mick Jones–and have tix to see BAD perform in NYC this April. But what a shame to have Roger Daltrey singing “London Calling” (he doesn’t even know the lyrics–who doesn’t know them by now?!). Makes me miss Joe Strummer all the more.
And performing Clash songs at a posh W Hotel launch for the elite seems somehow inappropriate, doesn’t it?
old gods, dead.
yeah, context is just not right. hard to watch. esp when Daltrey needs a lyric sheet (and there just happened to be one there for him…)
