Dark Wave Playlists — March 29, 2026 at 10:56 pm

Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Matt Sebastian (3/29/26)

Strawberry Switchblade

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

Bauhaus – Hair of the Dog
The Jesus and Mary Chain – April Skies
Anne Clark – Sleeper in Metropolis

  3. Great show tonight, Matt. In the future would you please play “N’yet N’yet, Soviet” by B.B. Gabor — a punky number from Canada back in the day. Incidentally, the “Soviet jewellery” B.B. sings about apparently refers to handcuffs. Thanks. Tom

  4. Great show tonight! “Halo” is such a slept on Depeche Mode track; that chorus fits late night drives and questionable romantic decision making perfectly.

How about “Hybrid Moments” by The Misfits the next time DW dips into punk territory?

Sounded like allergies were putting the boots to you tonight, brother; hope you feel better soon, if I’m right…

Best to all reading this in the week ahead!

  5. On April 18th, a Rozz Williams documentary will be released. Many of the musicians he worked with over the years will be performing his various works that evening in LA. In honor of that, would you please play something from the late Mr. Williams? Your choice of songs. Thanks

  6. Erich Häring

A great communion as always Matt and I already can’t wait for next week. I’d also love to hear “Stay” by Shakespeare Sister which despite being their biggest song doesn’t get enough love.

  7. UK Decay – For Madmen Only

  8. Thanks for playing Stabbing Westward’s version of The Cure’s Burn. Two of my favorites combined. One of my requests for cover show a number of months ago so was awesome to hear it on DW.

    And another great show

    Cheers

  9. Thirlwell9

Great playlist, as always, Matt. Thanks.

  10. Great show, as usual!

For a future episode, how about “Open Up (Chemical Brothers’ Remix)” by Leftfield ft. John Lydon next time you’re looking to bring the beat?

    Thanks Matt!

  11. I think I’m in the mood for some “Social Misery” by The Mobile Homes

  12. Loving all the shoegaze, keep it up!

  13. A great soothing, somber set Matt, way to finish off the month. And to usher in April, might I suggest these morsels for your approval. As always,All the Best to you Dark Harbinger, lol

  14. Hey Matt! Excellent show last night as always!

  15. Hello from a very overcast Monday evening! A really great program this week — loved the cover songs and shoegaze selections — always a winner!! Thank you for playing my Lush request – it’s a rarer song you don’t hear much. I’ve been re-listening to some compilation albums lately – did any of you guys collect the Just Say ones? I’ve got all of them … was going through them and totally forgot about a lot of bands!! Some possible suggestions for next time:

    The Farm – Groovy Train
The Wild Swans – Whirlpool Heart
Aztec Camera – Jump (Van Halen cover)

    Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。

  16. I was literally (and I am not writing hyperbolically here) standing in the shower, thinking when “Standing in the Shower… Thinking” came on. Great way to start the day. Thank you!

  17. John Jauchler

A little off the beaten path for the show but I think it fits the theme – Trashcan Sinatras “Best Man’s Fall.”

  18. Rockin good show! Gotta give hour 2 the win. Keep the shoegaze coming, especially Lush deep cuts (thank you Tina!) and thanks for playing my Wake request and more 154 Wire and Cabaret Voltaire.

I will be seeing the Weddoes in a few weeks in SF on the Seamonsters tour and am hoping you can dig up a b-side off the Dalliance single for a future communion: “Niagara”.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  19. Excellent hours once again!

I’d like to add on to any future punk block by requesting anything of your choosing by Wipers. Thanks!

  20. Never heard that cover of “Burn” before, but I like it. Good week to watch that movie.

I was supposed to see Die Krupps on April 14th, but then they canceled (so I’m seeing Pink Turns Blue instead). Could I get something from them?

  21. Bravo for another awesome episode of dark wave! Thank you for playing my Wire request. It’s always a joy when personal favorites are in the mix – JAMC, Jane’s, Bowie, The Smiths, RIDE…

A request for a future episode, going punk…
The Weirdos – “Life of Crime”

    Thank you!

  22. Greetings Matt, Really fantastic show this week! Catching up on responding…

Highlights for me… less familiar tunes by Tuxedo Moon and Wire and Cocteau Twins…the D.A.F…The Wake, who was unfamiliar to me altogether, and the always welcome dip into shoegaze (especially LUSH).

Looking back at the week before…. The Names was exquisite and completely unknown to me before. Also nice to be introduced to Weimar Gesang and loved the Kevin Shields into Lush transition.

Would love to request something noisy by New Zealand’s Bailer Space… ‘Be On Time’
(something I often tell myself but have more difficulty doing of late).

    Have a great week!

  23. Way Of The West – Don’t Say That’s Just For White Boys 12″ (1980) Apple Music
Berlin – Torture (1982) Apple Music + Qobuz

  24. Excellent set. Thank you.

Can you play one of my favorite Banshees song? Premature Burial. I originally had Join Hands on cassette and played it to death. Thank you.

  25. Bauhaus-Boys
    Kitchens of Distinction-Polaroids

  26. Hi very good sets. Always enjoy the shoe gaze and that Janes addiction song was just a nice bonus.
I would like to request Big Audio Dynamite – Medicine show which is a great b-side. Or My life with thrill kill cult -Burning Dirt

    Happy Holidays to all!
