“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

    • I never thought I’d hear Chickasaw Mudd Puppies on Dark Wave! They were one of my first concerts back in 1989. Since we’re peeling back on the Athens scene a little bit, I’d love to hear some Pylon!

Also, always thrilled to get some MC 900!

  3. Jonathan Leon

Some requests for the New Year
Dinosaur Jr. – Just Like Heaven
    The Cure – Untitled
Nitzer Ebb – Let Your Body Learn
    The Chameleons – Seriocity

  4. Happy new year!
I really dug your covers show, how about Coil’s cover of “Who by Fire?”

  5. Great show! Hearing the Chickasaw Mudd Puppies was a welcome surprise!

As an aside, “Sister Europe” is such an underrated track by the Furs.

On 1/11, that week’s edition will coincide with my birthday. This might be cutting it close, but I’d like to request “Roads” by Portishead.

Have a great week ahead, everyone! We made it through a turbulent 2025. Cheers.

  6. Great show! Thank you for giving Throwing Muses’ Hunkpapa a lot of play recently. It’s one of my favorite albums. Also loved hearing Tonya Donnelly’s cover of Shoplifters of the World Unite.

  7. Matt… thank you for honouring a request of mine earlier this year (B-MOVIE… nowhere girl… original version).

Just wanted to say… Great job this year. Have an awesome 2026. I look forward to your next shows…
    – Farooq

  8. Hey Matt, this was an excellent last show for 2025.
One really good cover song that The Cure did was Purple Haze around 93/94. Maybe you could play that sometime in the future months.
    See you next week!

  9. Sex Gang Children – Song And Legend

  10. Hi Matt-

I recently became aware of the band Adorable and wanted to recommend two tracks from their 1993 album “Against Perfection.” Both are fantastic! Hope to hear them on a future show. Thanks, and happy new year!

    Adorable – Against Perfection – 01 – Sunshine Smile
    Adorable – Against Perfection – 02 – Glorious

    • Seconded, nice call monkey! This would slide in nicely to a shoegaze block. I remember seeing Adorable live in San Francisco back in the summer of 93 and they had to be the most arrogant band I’d ever seen, in a good way! “I’ll be your Saint” is another great track.

    • I third this!!
Fun story – i posted something on FB about Adorable and Robert ( guitarist) responded and we started a wee chat – anyway he promised he’d send me a bunch of mp3 files of Adorable music, including some unreleased stuff, and he came through after about a week. This was pre-Covid
Just amazing – such a great guy and I love Adorable !!

    • I fourth!

  11. Thanks for another year of Darkwaving, Matt!

  12. Happy New Year Matt!!! A huge thank you for another year of DW. I look forward to it each and every week. Also it is hugely appreciated that you play our requests. I really loved this program….adored the first two hours especially!!! Thank you for playing my MC 900 ft Jesus request…such a cool song. I loved the extra covers especially the Smiths cover of “Shoplifters” by TD.
Some possible suggestions for next time:

    Yazoo – Winter Kills
Ultravox – Dancing With Tears In My Eyes (2009 Remaster)
    Simple Minds – Glittering Prize
(going old school this week lol)

    Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。

  13. Matt,thanx for a great 2025 & way to go out with a Dark Bang….hellz yeah!
Can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store!
HAPPY NEW YEAR MATT…and away we go…

  14. Stellar set to close out 2025! Magazine, Abecedarians, and Stone Roses were highlights. Really enjoyed that extra block of covers, especially Tanya doing the Smiths (never heard that before) and of course live Suede with Neil. I’ve got that cd single somewhere in the house.

“Burning for Dirt” got me thinking of a particularly groovy Thrill Kill Kult track. How about “The International Sin Set” on a future communion?

Happy new year Matt and the rest of the darkwave family! Cheers!

  15. Helluva first hour! Thanks for another great show!

    Would love to hear

    The Smiths Rusholme Ruffians

Siouxsie and the Banshees Last Beat of My Heart (LIVE)

    The Cure Screw

    Thanks Matt! Happy New Year

  16. Hey Matt great show, I loved the tracks by Stone Roses, The Chain, The Cure, Galaxie 500 and Joy Division. I was thinking maybe you could play Luna’s version of “ Happy New Year” off of their Live album for the new year and it would also fall in line of you playing lots of covers lately. If you could that would be great! Also I had the idea of maybe an all live songs show for the future. Thanks

  17. Enjoyed this one! And thanks for another great year of DW.

  18. Had to check my app – thought Suede was Placebo!

  19. Matt,
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the last playlist—it was absolutely fantastic and really captured the essence of the show. I’d love to hear “As the Minutes Drag” by Love and Rockets on an upcoming episode if possible. It’s such a perfect fit for the vibe you create every week.
Thanks for keeping the dark scene alive!

  20. Hey Matt!

Awesome final show of the year! And many thanks for playing Pigface!
2025: “What a Ride… What a Head-Trip!”…. my first request of 2026 shall be a tribute to the past 365 Days of Darkness:

    Tin Omen // Skinny Puppy

    Cheers and Happy New Year!

  21. Greetings Matt, a most Happy New Year to you and the dark wavers out there!!

Thanks a million for playing my Jesus Lizard request this week! It was great hearing it lead into a song by Pigface, always a welcome presence of the Darkwave playlists.

Also loved the set of leftover covers, which made for two weeks in a row of Galaxy 500 making the list! Abecedarians — still a bit of a mystery to me but always delivering, Comsat Angels and Throwing Muses.

Playing a bit of catchup…The all covers show was fantastic! A Certain Ratio, House of Love, British Sea Power, The Boo Radleys, and Chapterhouse offerings were highlights for me and of course the return of Pavement’s ‘Killing Moon’ cover. Do you think another all covers could happen in 2026? I think it’s possible! I already have a few requests cued up for that if it’s a go.

The Christmas show was lots of fun too. Christmas covers are not my forte nor the originals for that matter, but Cranes’ take on ‘Happy Xmas’ is a definite favorite and the Low and Galaxy 500 songs are absolutely my favorite songs about the season.

Looking forward to riding these dark waves in 2026!

  22. Another fantastic show.
Would love to hear Hit the North from The Fall on a future show Matt.

  23. Ted Milton – Love Is Like A Violence (1984)

New Fast Automatic Daffodils – Music Is Shit (1988)

  24. Happy new year, and great show as usual.

    Request for an upcoming show:
    Butthole Surfers: “Jimi”

  25. I loved this set to close out 2025. Thank you for playing my recent requests for JAMC and The Stone Roses. And the extra dose of cover songs was a nice touch.
I look forward to this show each and every week. And I enjoy reading the requests and comments from this community of listeners. Wishing Matt and the dark wavers a happy and healthy 2026.
