“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  5. Hi Matt –

Loved the show, but I’m going to gripe about this every time it happens. If listeners are going to hear only one Skinny Puppy track per week (…and that’s presuming you play one as part of Dark Wave) it should NOT be “Testure” in any of its forms. If Swedish Eagle or Richard Blade played Puppy during a regular shift, that’s what I’d expect to hear there…and they could play it every day of the week and I wouldn’t open my mouth about it. Unless it’s specifically someone’s request, playing “Testure” as the only Puppy track played on a weekly or bi-weekly basis on all of Sirius is both a sin & a waste.

Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest…bubbling up a request that I made back in September for:

The Clay People – Pariah (Plow Encroach Remix by Swamp Terrorists)

    Thanks!!

    Dave W.
    Long Branch, NJ

  6. Excellent show! First hour was especially top notch. That Strawberry Switchblade track in hour two put a request in mind.

If you would play the Peel Session version of “Trees and Flowers”, I’d really enjoy it. Thanks in advance!

Wishing all those reading this a great week ahead!

  7. Love the new Depeche Mode song. Would like to request Tabletalk by Adam and the Ants.

  8. Great show. Think you can play Myssouri/ No one’s Ark?

  9. Supremely groovy set this week! Don’t mind Doug, play Testure as often as you like, that song kicks ass. Same can be said for pretty much any Skinny Puppy of course. I love that you played the Grace Jones, especially after I requested one of her amazing covers last week. Great deep cuts from the Banshees and Mr. Murphy, Abecedarians too. And like some others have mentioned, that is a stunning version of Are ‘Friends’ Electric, great request from Tina.

Is it just me or are we overdue for a splash of shoegaze? I just saw Drop Nineteens last Friday in Berkeley and they still sound great. I’d love to hear ‘Daymom’ by Drop Nineteens next time you get the hankering for some shoegaze.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

    • Thank you dear! ◉‿◉ And you’re right about Skinny Puppy….he routinely plays different SP songs so I have no idea what the other listener is on about! I also agree on the shoegaze splash extravaganza!!! Bring it!!!

    • Yup! – Def overdue for a shoegaze set !! Good call!! :)

      -Cheers

  10. Two solid thumbs this week holy moly!!! Thank you for playing my Gary Numan request — isn’t that an awesome version?! I agree with Nathan…..we must have our shoegaze fixxxxx!! Some possible suggestions for next time:

    Slowdive – Hide Yer Eyes

    Thanks again as always!!! 。◕‿◕。

  15. Another fantastic show, Matt. I’d love to hear Fixation by Second Layer. Thanks!

  16. Great show! The different versions of familiar tracks – Blancmage, Gary Numan (…not only is he a pop star right, he’s got a pilot’s license), and Skinny Puppy – were all hella sweet.

If the door’s still open for cover show requests, I’ll toss in Lost in Music as done by The Fall. Just heard it for the first time in ages and… what a banger!

    Thanks Matt!
