“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  3. Hey Matt! Awesome show. I loved hearing lead into gold!

  4. Way back when, on the Sweet FA tour I heard Love and Rockets cover “Tomorrow Never Knows” by the Beatles. If a recorded version exists, I’d love to hear it again. If you can’t find that how about NIN’s cover of Gary Numan’s “Metal”?

  5. Hey Matt, going to see Life of Agony this weekend for the 30th anniversary tour of their album “Ugly”. The last track on that album is a great cover of Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me)”. How about giving that a spin? Thanks!

  12. Hello Matt! Wowza super awesome program this week – all hours stellar!! Thank you for playing my SOM request!! I am really excited to go see The Cult on October 9th (I don’t believe I’ve ever seen them). I would like to request Wild Flower or Revolution.

    Thanks again as always!! 。◕‿◕。

  13. Great show Matt! I’d like to throw Chemlab “Suicide Jag” into the mix for next week…

  14. Matt, you Dark Wave Devil!Great sets and mixes ta boot, couldn’t ask for anything more, but you always do,chefs smooch, lol! Here are some servings you might be inclined to serve sometime,All the best to you, always.
    MANUFACTURE-Little Caesar
    JOY DIVISION-No Love Lost
    ELECTRIC HELLFIRE CLUB-Mr.44

  15. Great communion! Loved hearing “Terror Story” (It’s been awhile) I’d love to hear some newer bands/ artists, as I really think it would spice up the show every now and again. I’d recommend “Yr Body Is Nothing” by Boy Harsher or “Acid Rain” by Model/Actriz! I once again thanks for hosting Matt!

  16. Great show as usual. I hope someone requests “The Last Day of Summer” for next Sunday’s show because of the accuracy, BUT that is not my actual request.

Instead, my request is for Oct. 5 because Luna celebrates their birthday on Oct. 6. Anything from side b of Disintegration — preferably live.

Luna and I finally saw The Cure during the 2023 tour in Michigan. It was our first time seeing the band live, and it rained the entire time. How fitting, yet totally worth it.

  17. Another great set Matt! Thanks for playing my Parade Ground request. Gotta admit, it’s your show that turned me on to that underrated Belgian group, many thanks sir, they are great. I appreciated your Smiths/Moz hot take, (not really that hot, haha) but I totally agree with you that Bona Drag is a high water mark for the Mozzer. Great selection off that brilliant collection. It’s difficult to think of a better show closer than Tugboat, that was perfect. And as per usual, we can never ever have too much Big Black.

Feeling punky. How about “Rotten to the Core” by Rudimentary Peni on a future communion?

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  18. Legendary Pink Dots “just a lifetime” please!

  19. O.M.D.- 88 Seconds in Greensboro

  20. Another great Sunday Matt!

Can you play Dogs – Christian Death

    Thank you in advance!

    Emanuel

  21. Matt, you’re the best DJ ever for this unique genre. I’m so amazed you get it!

I listen to each weekly episode at work all week.

How about The Frigidettes “Spikes and Chains” It’s Fresno punk but pretty dark and awesome!

Love the Skinny Puppy. And thank you for the Nitzer Ebb and a Killing Joke song I’ve never heard before.

  22. Thank you for Department S “Is Vic There?” that was awesome.

  23. Kevin Kuenkler

    Fantastic show this week Matt!!
I’m hoping this request falls under the “Dark Wave” mode. Since it is a new song from a classic dark wave artist… But I’ll leave it to you, but I was wondering if you could play Peter Murphy’s “The Artroom Wonder”? That is one hell of an album. Sure hope he is able to go out on tour here soon, but his health, who knows!!!

  24. Wow Matt – What a kick ass show!! I had to list to the show twice. Young Gods (I haven’t heard that song for years. Thanks for playing my request.) and Sister Machine Gun, plus Lead into Gold, RevCo, Skinny Puppy, Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Johnston Engineering, NIN (anything from Broken!) and topped off with Golden Dawn by Ministry, plus Bauhaus, Cure, Sisters of Mercy, DM (Wrong), Love & Rockets, Siouxsie, and Joy Division. Keep it coming. How about something from Die Warzau?

  25. David M. Lenci

It is always a trip down memory lane, listening to Dark Wave. Have you played “Futter mein Ego,” by Einsturzende Neubauten lately?

  26. Jerry Harrison – Worlds In Collision (1981) Apple Music + Qobuz
Psyche – Goodbye Horses (21st Century Immortality Mix) (2012) Apple Music + Qobuz + Bandcamp

  27. Sean Whitaker

WoW !! All of your shows are great Matt but this one was a favorite !! I’ve been making a playlist each week since 2019. Keep it up, sir. Monday morning is always a pleasure listening on my drive to work.

I’ll take this opportunity again to request Vociferous Mutes. You might have to play them from the YouTube But they fit the billet.

  28. Thank you for another wonderful set of dark tunes. I loved Bauhaus to kick things off. And personal favorites from JAMC, Joy Division, and Big Black were highlights.

A request for a future communion:
The Jesus and Mary Chain “Sometimes Always”

    Thank you!

  29. On the topic of song covers, the Cocteau Twins’ The Thinner the Air gets a first class treatment by Trance to the Sun

  30. Matt

  31. Donna Klauser
