“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  5. Hey Matt!

Great way to wrap up the summer!! … Thanks for playing many faves, including TKK (anything from Confessions of a Knife is bomb! ) + Christian Death (Face is the very best song on Ashes!).
So, I caught the recent Pixies show at Greek Theater in Berkeley last week… was really, really good! They sound just like they did in the Surfer Rosa days… :-). They closed their awesome show with my next request – not a song I’ve heard a lot, I think perhaps it was a B-side or something?

The Pixies // Into the White

    Cheers!

Thanks for playing Big Jugular by inca babies, Excellent!!

  13. Great show this week! Thanks for including my Galaxie 500 request in the playlist even though Sirius played Strange instead, that’s a great one too. On Fire is a perfect album. Nice to finally hear some Ashes and Diamonds. When Gone, Gone, Gone came on I asked my 15yo son, ‘Hey, what band is this?’ and he said, ‘Sounds like Echo and The Bunnymen with some weird dude singing.’ Haha, don’t know if Noel Burke is ‘a weird dude’ but he’s certainly not Ian. That Reverberation album is still a guilty pleasure nevertheless. Thanks for playing PTP as well.

I’ve got a Cure b-side request if you could dig it up, a track I can’t recall ever having heard on the radio before: “The Big Hand”

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  14. My Bloody Valentine – No More Sorry

  15. Randall Griffith

Hi Matt: Damn fine show as usual! Standouts for me were the block of industrial/dance tracks recommended by DJ Bueller, as well as Mission of Burma!

I am headed to see NIN this Saturday night, so requesting “She’s Gone.” Such a killer track and loved the performance they did on Twin Peaks Season 3, Episode 8!

  16. Great show as always! A few standouts for me include Ashes and Diamonds, X, DJ Bueller’s picks, Inca Babies, and Christian Death.

A request for a future dark communion:
    Spiritualized “Run”

Can’t believe it’s September – wishing everyone a good week.

  17. A lot of requests in these comments already!

Is it possible to play London After Midnight, perhaps “Kiss” or “Sacrifice” – in a way, to celebrate a recent announcement of an upcoming very rare NorthEast USA tour appearance finally (if you don’t count DC in 2008, or if you must, even Atlanta in ’97!)
    Please and thank you! :)

  18. A Gentoo Penguin

Pale Saints – Sight of You

  19. Chrome – New Age

  20. holdthebeans

Please play Alyans “Na Zare”. I never miss an episode of DarkWave and have it as one of my presets in my vehicle. Thanks!

  21. Matt! Can’t tell you how good it was to hear “Rage” pounding out of my car stereo randomly (as opposed to me playing it, of course…) since probably around 96. I dig deep for that one – thanks for playing as always. Killer show once again!

    Best,

    Dave W.
    Long Branch, NJ

  22. EMF – Lies (1991) Apple Music + Qobuz
Sinéad O’Connor And Karen Finley – Jump In The River (1988) Vinyl & CD only

  23. How about Peter Murphy- A strange kind of love. (Version 2)? Thanks

  24. Hi Matt – a request for Psychic TV’s cover of “Eve of Destruction.”

Just popped into my head and I had to listen to it on YT, and thought it’d be a good fit for the show. Thanks!

  25. Late to the party but how about ‘you’re driving me’ by the Cravats for a future show??

    Thanks!
