“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).
The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.
Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

Hi Matt! Here’s my modest request:
A Split Second – The Colosseum Crash
Thanks for playing that Memorabilia cover.
I enjoyed tonight’s show!
Hey Matt, great show as always!
I loved parade ground and shriek back tonight
I like how the blocks of music flowed tonight. May I ask if you can play “Torture Technique” by Sister Machine Gun on a future show?
51st State – brilliant song !!! Thanks for that
I’d like to hear a quick history of when/how you started DarkWave the radio program and if you remember the very first song you played on your very first show, I’d like to request that.
Thanks Matt
Constantine (long time listener from “never the 51st State”)
Great comment!

ED GEIN-Executive Slacks
WALKING IN THE SKIES-Nik Turner
CRASH DANCE-Yello

That at was Crackin’ good. Nice tribute to Dave Allen. And leading off with Monitor, my favorite cut off Juju one of my favorite albums was a great start to fine listening.
Back in 80 or 81 (can’t remember exactly) Gang of Four played Boston. And had their gear stolen. So they played 3-4 nights a week all around town to get enough money to get new gear to finish their tour. I saw them at least 4 times before they left. To the best of my knowledge I don’t think they or shriekback ever came back to Boston again.
All About Eve – The Dreamer
I must concur with Jim, crackin good indeed. Lovely tribute to Dave Allen and Monitor is probably my favorite Banshees song period. I’m pretty excited to see Gang of Four at the end of May in San Francisco, even if Jon and Hugo are the only two remaining original members. When I saw them a couple years back at Cruel World when Sara was still on bass and with David Pajo on guitar they absolutely killed it, best set of the festival.
I had never heard that NIN cover of Memorabilia before, holy smokes! Awesome cover version. Really enjoyed hearing The Normal’s og version of Warm Leatherette and the og version of Rosegarden rather than the version off Press the Eject. Hour 3 was killer as well, nice to hear some Executive Slacks.
I’ll be seeing Slowdive next month here in Oakland and would love to request an old fave from them that I very much doubt (fingers crossed I’m wrong) they will have in the set: “Morningrise.”
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
I second the Morningrise request!
Does anyone know the history behind the Front 242 cover of Kommando with the soldier shooting what appears to be a PPSH? Just a World War Two photo?
Happy Monday Matt! A really excellent program – I especially enjoyed hour 3!! As Easter draws near I’m feeling reflective thoughts to a simpler, more classic dark wave experience…(•‿•)
Some possible suggestions for next time:
Front Line Assembly – Mindphaser
Alien Sex Fiend – I Walk The Line
Skinny Puppy – Inquisition
Thanks again as always!!! 。◕‿◕。
Hi Matt,
Excellent playlist again this week! For several years now, I’ve been so grateful for your show as it always gives me something to look forward to as I start my Monday morning work-week.
I’m wondering if you would consider playing something from The Reds? I think their song “Hold On” from the 1886 “Band of the Hand”movie soundtrack or “Waiting for You” from that same album might fit in the vibe of the show.
Great hours all around, especially with the industrial choices.
X’s Los Angeles turns 45 on 4/26. In honor of this album, I’d to request any track of your choice from it, please.
Thanks!
Second! Love this request.
Thanks for playing New Model Army “51st State”!
And the Bolshoi in the same week? Love it so much!
Great show, Matt! The Banshees’ Monitor is an absolute crusher to open with. ‘What We All Want’ is becoming one of my favorite Gang of Four songs (RIP Dave Allen; can’t wait to see them for the first time in Washington DC next week). I loved hearing the female vocal-fronted post punk of Bush Tetras and Au Pairs, and that into Yu-Gung was a fantastic transition. As Yu-Gung was going, I thought it seemed longer than I remembered, so I’m relieved to see it was a remix, and what a perfect remix Adrian Sherwood came up with for it. Last of all, thanks leading me to the discoveries of Breathless and Death In Venice. Have a great week.
Pauk – Mumije
Hour 1 had it all this week. Nice Dave Allen tribute. And good cuts from The Cramps, Gun Club, and Kate Bush.
Looking forward to this Sunday. Have a good one.
Wow, wow, wow! An awesome set from start to finish. Thanks for playing my request for “April Skies” – probably my all time favorite from the Reid brothers. Loved the tribute to Dave Allen, Gun Club, Cramps, Love and Rockets, The Normal, The Smiths, Sugarcubes and Daniel Ash…
A request for an upcoming show:
David Bowie “Look Back in Anger”
Thank you! Wishing Matt and the Dark Wavers a good week.
Party Day – Athena (1985) Bandcamp + Apple Music
Bauhaus – Untitled (1980) Apple Music + Qobuz
Great show. How about an explosive for an opener sometime. Fishing by P.I.L. Thanks – Morseman.
Hey Matt, thanks for playing my Shriekback request! How about Method to my Madness by Lords of the New Church in future episode.
Great show, especially loved the last hour!
Sorry for the late request but for the Easter Holiday, howzabout:
THAT PETROL EMOTION-Creeping to the Cross
