For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we spotlight this very early footage of a young Dinosaur Jr performing at the University of Massachusetts in 1986. The four songs featured in this 19-minute video include one off 1985’s Dinosaur and three from You’re Living All Over Me, released in 1987.

Cherry Red Records has finalized the tracklist for its massive Manchester North of England box set, a 7-disc collection due out next month that features 146 songs spanning 1977 to 1993 by such fabled Mancunians as Joy Divison, New Order, The Stone Roses, Morrissey (but not The Smiths), The Fall and Oasis. For patient fans, The Dream Syndicate’s slow burn of a reunion — sporadic bursts of shows here and there since first getting back together five years ago — is about to pay off in a big way, with the release this September of the legendary Paisley Underground act’s first new album in 29 years, and weeks worth of shows.

We’re thrilled today to debut a new partnership with the “Rockin’ the Suburbs” podcast that will bring exclusive, uncut versions of their interviews with musicians of the ’80s college rock era to Slicing Up Eyeballs. And who better to inaugurate the whole thing than Tommy Stinson of The Replacements.

The unstoppable Mark E. Smith returns this summer with his 32nd studio album under The Fall moniker, an 11-track collection called New Facts Emerge that features a slightly stripped-down lineup of the legendary and oft-changing Manchester band.

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark today premiered the first official single off their upcoming album The Punishment of Luxury, a soaring, classic-sounding single called “Isotype” that will be released digitally tomorrow and will be released on 12-inch vinyl as well.

For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we once again trawl the archives of the East German TV show “Rockpalast” for this 70-minute performance by famed West German industrial act Einstürzende Neubauten that was filmed in 1990, just a few months after German reunification.

Reunited indie-pop outfit The Primitives have released a new four-song EP titled New Thrills, and will help promote it later this month with a pair of U.K. shows in London and Manchester followed, in early June, by a trio or rare U.S. dates. Stream the new EP, and check out tour dates, here.

U.K. post-punk warriors Wire stopped by the Seattle studios of KEXP radio in early April during a short West Coast swing in support of their 15th studio album, Silver/Lead, to perform a four-song on-air session and chat with host Stevie Zoom.
