For the latest installment of Amoeba Music’s series “What’s In My Bag?,” Paul Weller shows off the fruits of a recent trip to the indie chain’s Hollywood megastore, including two albums he declares to be must-owns: the Tropicalia: A Brazilian Revolution in Sound compilation and John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme.

True to its name, the 2013 installment of NYC Popfest will be an indie-pop lover’s dream, as the organizers have pulled off a booking coup, landing rare American performances by C86 veterans Close Lobsters and The Wolfhounds as well as U.K. post-punk act The Monochrome Set and an appearance by The Bats.

Our friends at Drastic Plastic Records have just reissued Agent Orange’s hardcore classic ‘Living in Darkness’ in a super-limited run of opaque-blue and 180-gram black vinyl and they’ve hooked us up with one copy of each to give away to a pair of lucky Slicing Up Eyeballs readers.

Domino Records next month will reissue the original four albums from Edwyn Collins’ acclaimed Scottish indie-pop act Orange Juice — ‘You Can’t Hide Your Love Forever’ (1982), ‘Rip It Up’ (1982), ‘Texas Fever’ (1984) and ‘The Orange Juice’ (1984) — on vinyl for Record Store Day, according to Wax Poetic.

Not much of a surprise given Steven Severin’s recent hint, but the lone album by The Glove — 1983′s ‘Blue Sunshine’ — will be reissued as an individually numbered 2LP set on blue vinyl for Record Store Day next month, featuring not just the full album but the 16 demos originally included on the 2006 expanded CD reissue.

Rhino Records will follow up its 2010 Record Store Day limited-edition Factory Records sampler with a second 10-inch label sampler for this year’s event: a 4-track EP that will feature one song each from Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays and The Durutti Column, according to Wax Poetic.

The Cure has been no stranger to special Record Store Day releases — last year saw an expanded Entreat, plus reissues of the band’s first six albums in the U.K. — and this year’s no different, with an individually numbered, red-vinyl reissue of 1987’s ‘Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me’ due out next month.

This week’s new releases include the ‘Songs For Slim’ reunion EP from The Replacements, new studio albums from Robyn Hitchcock, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, They Might Be Giants, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Lloyd Cole and Cluster founder Hans-Joachim Roedelius.

Tonight’s edition of “Dark Wave” — the Sunday night “darker side of alternative” show on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave — featured Shriekback, Gary Numan, Moev, The Gun Club, Bauhaus, Lords of Acid, The Smiths, Front 242, Fad Gadget, The Bolshoi, Alien Sex Fiend and much more.

It’s yet to be officially announced, but Peter Murphy will return to the U.S. this spring for what appears to be a full tour called “Peter Murphy Celebrates 35 Years of Bauhaus,” which will find the band’s former frontman performing concerts comprised solely of Bauhaus material.

For this week’s “120 Minutes” Rewind,we revisit the tail end of the April 15, 1990, episode, which featured a 5-minute Kurt Loder-hosted MTV News report about the so-called Madchester scene, featuring interviews with Manchester acts such as Happy Mondays, 808 State and New Order’s Bernard Sumner.
