The release of the 5-disc box set Scared To Get Happy: A Story of Indie-Pop 1980-1989 is still nearly two months away, but Cherry Red Records has begun teasing fans with some of the music that will appear on the set, including this rare 1982 flexidisc recording by The Bluebells of “Happy Birthday,” recorded just after they’d demoed material for Postcard Records.
Plus: The label has just posted what it believes will be the first ever CD release of The Daintees’ debut for Kitcheware Records, the song “Roll On Summertime.”
Check out the two tracks below. The 134-track Scared to Get Happy box set arrives June 24 in the U.K.

Great to see The Daintees included. Martin Stephenson’s one of the UKs finest songwriters and performers and still enthralling audiences with regular tours. The Daintees are playing The Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury this year and in another dimension could have headlined The Pyramid Stage. You can keep your Mumfords!!
