BACKSTORY: Ex-Depeche Mode bandmates Vince Clarke and Martin L. Gore release their first collaboration in 30 years, an EP featuring the album version of “Spock,” plus four remixes (see tracklist here), on Wednesday via Beatport; it then will become available through all digital music retailers on Dec. 12. A 12-inch single follows on Dec. 20.

BACKSTORY: Evan Dando this week releases a collection of demos he recorded in an Australian hotel room nearly 20 years, a set that includes early versions of “Into Your Arms,” “Big Gay Heart” and “Down About It.” Dando says, “The ‘Into Your Arms’ I did here is better than the one on the album (I like it anyway).”

BACKSTORY: The former guitarist of The Mighty Lemon Drops makes his solo debut this week with a brand-new, five-track digital EP which is to be followed by a full-length album next year.
