The members of R.E.M. have made no secret about how influenced they were by The Feelies’ 1980 debut Crazy Rhythms, and in this clip — filmed May 14 at The Middle East in Cambridge, Mass. — we see the reunited band salute their admirers with a high-energy run through “Carnival of Sorts (Box Cars)” off 1982’s Chronic Town EP.
Earlier this year, The Feelies released their first new album in 20 years — Here Before — and have been gigging sporadically over the past few months. They’re next slated to play shows Friday in Milford, Conn., and Saturday at Celebrate Brooklyn! in New York.
