Occasional Roxy Music lead singer Bryan Ferry this week unveiled the cover art for his upcoming solo album Olympia — an upside-down shot of waif-like supermodel Kate Moss lying in bed with some serious jewelry around her neck.
In a news release, Ferry says the album cover was inspired by Édouard Manet’s 1963 oil painting “Olympia.” He adds: “I wanted a cover-girl for this record who could convey the glamorous notoriety of the original ‘Olympia’ painting, and the obvious choice was Kate Moss.”
The record itself — which reunites Ferry with his Roxy Music bandmates Brian Eno, Phil Manzanera and Andy Mackay for the first time since 1973’s For Your Pleasure — is due out Oct. 26. Read more about it here.
