Bryan Ferry enlists Kate Moss to appear on cover of upcoming ‘Olympia’ solo album

Bryan Ferry, 'Olympia'

Occasional Roxy Music lead singer Bryan Ferry this week unveiled the cover art for his upcoming solo album Olympia — an upside-down shot of waif-like supermodel Kate Moss lying in bed with some serious jewelry around her neck.

In a news release, Ferry says the album cover was inspired by Édouard Manet’s 1963 oil painting “Olympia.” He adds: “I wanted a cover-girl for this record who could convey the glamorous notoriety of the original ‘Olympia’ painting, and the obvious choice was Kate Moss.”

The record itself — which reunites Ferry with his Roxy Music bandmates Brian Eno, Phil Manzanera and Andy Mackay for the first time since 1973’s For Your Pleasure — is due out Oct. 26. Read more about it here.

  1. inspired in the sense that the object portrayed is female? because there is zero ‘Olympia’ vibe here. what i really see is ‘Kate is hot, maybe her face will help me sell some tunes.’ stick eno on the front with a VCS3 or something… anorexia FTL.
