Peter Buck is no stranger to jumping on stage for a good jam, so when former Hüsker Dü frontman Bob Mould swung through Athens, Ga., on July 25, 1990, in support of Black Sheets of Rain, the R.E.M. guitarist pitched in on a crunchy cover of Neil Young’s classic-rock staple “Cinnamon Girl” (minus the coda, though). Check out the clip above — and stick around for the second half of the video, which features Mould and his band trotting out Cheap Trick’s “Surrender.”
Whoa! This tour and Sugar’s Beaster tour generated by far the best live shows Mould has performed in his post-Husker days. So glad to see some footage — brings back memories, and the ringing in my ears!
That kicked serious ass!!
Saw Bob rock out an unreal Cinnamon Girl in Grinnell IA on Workbook tour where he ended with this killer noise assault where pulled out the strings one by one while yelling into the pickups, “OH YEAAHH!” I toured Lollapalooza for years and seen thousands of shows but this was the best moment in my rock and roll experience.
