BACKSTORY: The Stooges’ hugely influential 1973 proto-punk classic receives a 2CD reissue this week, with one disc featuring David Bowie’s original mix (rather than the new mix by Iggy Pop that was used on the ’97 reissue) and a second disc loaded with studio outtakes and live tracks recorded in Atlanta in October 1973.

BACKSTORY: Michael Stipe and Co. this Saturday reissue their long-out-of-print 1982 debut EP on limited-edition clear blue vinyl as part of the third-annual Record Store Day. RELEASES: Confusion is Sex, EVOL, Hits Are for Squares
BACKSTORY: Again as part of Record Store Day, the New York noise-rockers on Saturday reissue their 1983 and ’86 albums Confusion is Sex and EVOL on white and pink vinyl, respectively, plus issue their rare 2008 Starbucks comp Hits Are for Squares on vinyl for the first time; the first two reissues, at least, are available online.
