Synth pioneer Gary Numan has expanded what was to be a very short run of West Coast dates in late summer by adding concerts in the Eastern U.S. this October leading up to a pair of opening slots in Florida on Nine Inch Nails’ fall arena tour in October. All told, Numan is now planning 13 North American shows through Oct. 31.
The tour opens Aug. 28 in Sacramento, Calif., and includes stops at the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle and the Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit in Asheville, N.C., before wrapping up with the NIN dates in late October.
Numan, of course, has a long history with Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, and even was tapped to perform at the band’s “final” concert in 2009.
Numan is set to release his long-in-the-works album Splinter on Oct. 14.
Below, check out the full tour dates and watch video of Numan and NIN performing “Metal.”

I saw Gary during his I, Assassin tour. He puts on a very interesting and enjoyable show.
have to say that I saw Gary live only once in 2006 (was taken to the gig by a friend who’s a fan). The current material at the time was pretty lame IMHO (very NIN like) but the majority of the cyber-goth/Reznor-introduced audience stomped around like they were hits.
Numan performed well and played what I would expect to hear but that slick-roadkill hair piece has got to go! Oh and I could do without the “Cars” encore… better to be replaced by “Are Friends Electric?”
Hey, Devotee, do I blame you or the roadkill for getting coffee all over my Mac?!!! Major laugh scored here! Would love to see said critter brought back to life (a la Dave Gahan) and darting between those stompin’ fans–now THAT would be an encore!!!
Dirty Sticky Floors, my friend… Dirty Sticky Floors! ;)
Atlanta!
Damn, too far from Tucson! Please come to the Phoenix area again like 2006 in Scottsale! Gary opening for NIN? It should be the other way around! I have seen and met him 3 times, i have never seen an artist spend so much care and time meeting and chatting with all his fans, he cares about us!
I have to agree with Chuck – Gary really does appreciate his fan base… and as was the case with Bauhaus, NIN should ALWAYS be the opener! ;)
This is going to be great!
Pleases Come to Omaha Nebraska or Council Bluffs…I’m sure there is a lot of fan in the Heartland…Thank you.

He opened for NIN last night in Florida. He put on a great show; he has a very interesting and different voice. I enjoyed it, I’m looking him up now and buying a few of his songs. NIN did amazing too! Best light show ever.
