In the works for nearly three years, Love This Giant — the joint album recorded by former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne and singer-songwriter/guitar ace Annie Clark, better known as St. Vincent — will be released in September, after which the two musicians will embark on a 25-date fall North American tour.
The 12-track album arrives Sept. 21 via 4AD/Todo Mundo, and, according to a news release, features 10 songs that Clark and Byrne wrote and performed together and one individually written song from each musician. The set “centers around an explosive brass band and is propelled by John Congleton’s drum programming.” Get a preview with a free download of album opener “Who,” available via the widget below in exchange for an e-mail address.
The duo hits the road beginning Sept. 15 in Minneapolis, running through Oct. 20 in Vancouver, B.C. Of the trek, Byrne says, “We’ll be doing these songs and a bunch of songs that we suspect people will know, with a group that includes eight brass players, a keyboardist and a drummer.” Clark adds: “There was no delineating what the roles were. It’s a collaboration I’m truly proud of.”
